Muthumaiyai potruvom:
Elderly people contribute immensely to the growth of society - provided that they are properly taken care of. Cases of poverty, negligence, inadequate health care, lack of health insurance and even abuse against senior citizens have been rising day by day, though our country is famous for its culture of respect for the elderly. Help aged people today – it is not hard to see why our help is so important.
The purpose of “Muthumaiyai Potruvom” is to establish principles for best service in the care of older people / physically or mentally challenged in all settings. Older people do not have a particular need for the care outlined here compared with any other age group, but it would appear that they are less likely to receive this care because of the inherent ageism in our society.
The aim of this Trust is to encourage youngsters to develop a positive attitude towards older people, and embrace positive feelings of respect and an understanding that older people are important members of society.
“ Muthumaiyai potruvom” ensures that older people are given proper shelter, food, care and good assistance with personal hygiene
Annakoadai:
Even though we may not realize it, there are people we interact with every day who are not sure where they will find their next meal. We at, “Annakoadai”, try to arrange food at various homes in and around Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India, during weekends and all important festivals. “EERA NENJAM” trustees and volunteers offer food during happy moments like birthdays, wedding anniversaries etc., Whenever possible, we have been providing healthy and hygienic food for orphans or persons at homes.
Pasumai Nagaram:
Pasumai Nagaram aims at “environmental protection”, which is one of our top priorities. Global warming, falling water tables, shrinking cropland per person, collapsing fisheries, shrinking forests, the loss of plant and animal species all these have become universal concerns. Land degradation, biodiversity, air pollution, fresh water resources and hazardous waste management have been identified as the major issues that face India and Tamil Nadu today.
In our trust, we, the trust members, with the help of volunteers, plan to green the environment by planting trees in major parts of the cities where trees are usually cut down in the name of development. As we are aware, the trees are meant for many purposes, especially to increase the rain fall, reduce the air-pollution along the road side, provide shelter to persons and animals etc.,
Valarum Giramam:
Father of our nation said, “Villages are backbone of the country”. If we want to contribute something back to society, we should consider development of a village. We are planning to promote a new activity called ‘Adopt a village’ under “Valarum Giramam” through our trust. Through this activity, we are planning to bring changes in the adopted village in terms of health care, cleanliness, child education, development of women etc., We are planning to address issues such as importance of water, open defecation, poor waste management etc., We, with all your support, can bring a change among the safe sanitation, drinking water practices among poor & rural communities, increase their knowledge and understanding on solid & liquid waste management, rain water harvesting, etc.,
In our trust, we, with the help of volunteers, initially, plan to adopt a village and in a prescribed time, we vow to make it as a MODEL village in our state and subsequently in our country.
Kalvi Kodai:
There is a saying that Education is the best investment which pays more interest. Education is important in all countries especially developing countries like India. It has a basic role to play in personal and social development. Education can be used as a ladder to climb out of poverty, exclusion, ignorance, oppression and war. The children and youth of present times, who will take over from today's adults, need to be equipped with knowledge to usher in a better future.
Our high schools are designed to prepare students for university, not the world most will enter. Parents want the education system to maintain high standards so their children have opportunities to achieve this ideal.
In our trust through ‘Kalvi Kodai’, initially, we would like to help students who scored in public examinations like secondary and higher secondary examinations by providing educational materials and subsequently we intend to provide scholarships to eligible low income group family students.
